Compensation Help Hey folks, My **YOE: 7.5**, backend engineer on Python and AWS. I am at the final stages of discussion with JPMC for Software Engineer 3, wanted some inputs from the community. Currently I hold an offer of **34.2 LPA(30.7 fixed)**, already serving the NP and will be available to join in **20 days**. My current salary is **22.20 LPA(19.37 fixed)**, how much should I ask for in JPMC? Initially I was under the impression that JP might offer really good but seeing at the salaries for SE3 on glassdoor the fixed component is coming to be 28 - 32 LPA base. I have asked for minimum of **15% high** on my current offer base package. Suggest me some numbers incase you know and the strategy to negotiate better, also about the variable, stock options and other benefits.

Service to product, not feeling good. Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice on a career decision I made. Previously, I had a decent remote position with a service company in Gurugram, earning 23 LPA with 10 years of experience in the finance sector. Seeking better security, I jumped to a product startup entering the Indian market for a 34 LPA offer (29 fixed + 5 variable, specific to engineers). The new company is in Hyderabad, and I was surprised by the high cost of living. Forget 2-3 BHK flats under 1 crore, builders just laugh! Rents are high too. Starting in April, my salary dropped by 35k per month compared to the initial 3 months. Now, I’m questioning my decision. While I had a 32 LPA offer from a service company in Gurugram, the product company’s policies are concerning. They make frequent changes, and my manager openly discusses replacing European contractors with cheaper Indian hires. The supposed salary increase barely covers the increased expenses in Hyderabad. Additionally, office politics seem rampant, with other teams creating drama despite my team being okay. Honestly, with the pay cut and considering the same-city service company offer with better policies, I feel like I might’ve made a mistake. What are your thoughts? Should I explore other options or try negotiating within the company?
