Hi everyone I’m a Java developer currently working at a company, and I’ve been contemplating my career path given the rapid advancements in AI/ML and emerging technologies. While I enjoy development, I’m unsure whether to stay focused on improving my expertise in software engineering or pivot toward AI/ML. Here’s my confusion: Ai/ML Hype & Languages: I’ve heard Python and Julia are dominant in AI/ML, while Rust is gaining traction in systems programming. As a Java dev, I have no prior experience with AI/ML. Should I invest time in learning these languages and dive into AI, or is sticking with development (and possibly exploring Rust) a safer bet? Transition Challenges: For someone with No Ai background , how feasible is switching fields? Would certifications, side projects, or formal education ( e.g., online courses ) be necessary? Language Focus: If I stay in development, should I prioritize learning Rust or double down on Java ecosystems ( e.g., Spring, cloud tools )? Or is Python a must-learn regardless of the path? I’d love insights from experienced professionals: Is Ai/ML a viable career for someone starting from scratch, or is it oversaturated? Are there hybrid roles ( e.g., ML engineering, AI-integrated backend systems ) that bridge development and AI? What’s the best way to assess which path aligns with long-term opportunities?
