Summary

I interviewed for a Lead Frontend position at Headout; the process included machine coding, system design, and a hiring manager round, and I was not offered the role.

Full Experience

Role: Lead
Location: Banglore
Expereince: 10 years
Outcome: Not Offered

Got the opportunity to get interviewed at Headout via direct application through their careers site.

Round 1: Machine Coding - 90mins

  • Build a working page like kanban board with pure vanila js and css

Round 2: System Design - 90mins

  • Had both HLD and LLD
  • Google Spreadsheets (Formulas, Collab Editing, Offline support)

Round 3: Hiring Manager - 90mins

This was originally scheduled for 90 mins but went over. It was the most challenging yet rewarding round.

  • Code Review: I was given a piece of simple code and asked to critique it for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • In-depth Project Discussion: A deep dive into my past work. They weren't just looking for what I built, but the "Product Engineering" mindset, how I handled technical debt, ownership, and the impact on user outcomes and trade-offs.
  • Culture-fit: Typical leadership questions, but very focused on how I mentor juniors and handle cross-functional conflicts.

Overall Experince:
Very professional, transparent, and technically rigorous.
