Summary

I interviewed for a Senior Software Engineer position at Okta in October 2026; the process included three DSA rounds and a hiring‑manager/LLD round, and I was ultimately rejected.

Full Experience

It was scheduled in October 2026 and HR had set the expectation for 4 rounds, 3 being DSA rounds and one Hiring Manager+LLD.

But, in the first round itself I was asked a design problem Twitter with requirements like create tweets, follow, unfollow and see top 10 news feeds of users sorted chronologically on the basis of timestamp.

I had implemented the methods designing class structure with all parameters user_id, tweet_id, timestamp and was writing methods follow, unfollow, see newsfeed with in-memory data structures as thought it was a dsa round. Then, I was asked to implement it with database, and was not allowed to write untill clear with indexing and the schema for all the methods so make sure that you are practicing these things also while practicing LLD.

Verdict: Rejected

Interview Questions (1)

1.

Design Twitter Feed System

System Design

Design a system that supports the following operations:

  1. postTweet(userId, tweetId) – Create a tweet for a user with a timestamp.
  2. follow(followerId, followeeId) – Allow a user to follow another user.
  3. unfollow(followerId, followeeId) – Allow a user to unfollow another user.
  4. getNewsFeed(userId) – Retrieve the 10 most recent tweets from the user’s own tweets and those of users they follow, sorted chronologically by timestamp.

The candidate first implemented the solution using in‑memory data structures (class design, methods, and parameters), then was asked to extend the design to use a persistent database, including appropriate indexing and schema definitions for the methods.
