Summary

I cleared the first two rounds of the Slice SDE-2 interview but was rejected after the final Project and Technical Deep Dive.

How it went

Slice SDE-2 Interview Experience — Rejected

Role: Software Engineer 2 Location: India Result: Rejected after Round 3

Interview Process

Round 1 — Machine Coding A 90-minute machine-coding round focused on implementing a functional backend application, including API design, implementation, and testing.

Round 2 — High-Level Design A 60-minute HLD round where I was asked to design a rate limiter. The discussion covered the system design and related technical trade‑offs.

Round 3 — Project and Technical Deep Dive The discussion focused on projects mentioned in my resume, technical implementation details, why I chose particular approaches, alternative solutions, and how I would handle challenges differently. There were also questions about my motivation for joining Slice.

Final Outcome and Feedback

I cleared the first two rounds but received a rejection email after Round 3. I felt the final interview went well, so I contacted HR to request feedback to understand where I could improve. I haven't received a response so far.

I respect that hiring decisions are made based on the company's evaluation criteria. However, even brief, constructive feedback would help candidates understand their gaps and improve for future interviews.

I'm sharing my experience to help other SDE-2 candidates prepare for the process and to encourage better communication with candidates after interviews.
