Oracle Interview Experience
Summary
I completed five interview rounds at Oracle covering DSA, Java, SQL, system design, microservices, security, and behavioral topics.
Full Experience
Sharing my recent Oracle interview experience. The process consisted of 5 rounds:
Round 1 – Technical + DSA
- Questions based on my experience, including CI/CD and Idempotency
- LeetCode-style Cheapest Flights Within K Stops
- I explained the approach and wrote the code. The solution was almost correct, but a few edge cases caused it not to run successfully.
- After this round, 4 more rounds were scheduled.
Round 2 – Java + SQL + Coding
- Java-related questions
- SQL questions
- String manipulation coding question
Round 3 – Hiring Manager
- HLD/System Design: Log Ingestion System
- Authentication vs Authorization
- JWT
- Questions based on my previous experience
- This was the most challenging round for me, especially the HLD question.
Round 4 – Experience + Behavioral
- Questions to understand whether my experience aligned with the role
- Deep dive into projects and responsibilities mentioned on my resume
- Behavioral and situational questions
Round 5 – Microservices + Java + DP
- Microservices-related questions
- Given two Java code snippets and asked to identify the issues/errors
- DP question based on the Pick or Not Pick pattern
Overall, the interview covered a good mix of DSA, Java, SQL, System Design, Microservices, Security, and behavioral questions, with a strong focus on previous experience.
Hope this helps anyone preparing for an Oracle interview.
Interview Questions (2)
Cheapest Flights Within K Stops
Given a set of n cities labeled from 0 to n-1 and a list of flights where each flight is represented as (source, destination, price), find the cheapest price to travel from a starting city src to a destination city dst with at most K stops. If there is no such route, return -1.
Input:
n: number of citiesflights: list of[from, to, price]src: source citydst: destination cityK: maximum number of stops
Output:
- Minimum total price meeting the constraints, or
-1if impossible.
Log Ingestion System Design
Design a high‑throughput log ingestion system that can collect logs from millions of sources, reliably store them, and make them available for downstream processing and querying. Discuss components such as load balancers, message queues, storage layers, scalability, fault tolerance, data partitioning, indexing, and security considerations (authentication, authorization, JWT).
