Summary
I attended four onsite interviews for an SDE2 role at Amazon, found them manageable, but ultimately did not receive an offer.
How it went
Recently had my 4 onsite interviews for SDE 2 at Amazon. Not too difficult interview.
Strengths:
Strong DSA and customer obsession stories
Growth Areas:
System design and OOPS, bit unlucky with oops interviewer I think.
I know where I lacked in system design. More prep time would have been helpful.
Questions:
- Design Linux Find API command
- Design Amazon Review System
- Bar Raiser: Return first character with count equal 1, follow up involved data incoming as a stream. Optimal solution was using Doubly linked list to keep only characters with count 1 and a hashmap for counts.
- Graph traversal problem, check if url2 can be reached from url1. Given pair of urls as data, from url 1 you can reach to url 2. Construct this directed graph first. then pass this graph as input to a function to check if url 2 can be reached from url 1. Can be solved using BFS/DFS.

Design Linux Find API
System Design
Design an API that mimics the functionality of the Linux
findcommand. - 02
Design Amazon Review System
System Design
Design a system for handling product reviews on an e-commerce platform similar to Amazon.
- 03
Find First Non‑Repeating Character in a Stream
Data Structures & Algorithms
Return the first character whose count equals 1 in a stream of incoming characters. The optimal solution uses a doubly linked list to keep only characters with count 1 and a hashmap for counts.

URL Reachability in Directed Graph
Data Structures & Algorithms
Given pairs of URLs representing directed edges, construct a directed graph and determine whether a target URL (url2) is reachable from a source URL (url1). The solution can be implemented using BFS or DFS traversal.
