Summary

I recently interviewed for an SDE-3 position at Walmart, clearing the first DSA round but failing the LLD round due to a lack of strong design fundamentals, which ultimately led to me not qualifying for Round 3.

Full Experience

Recently I interviewed for SDE-3 at Walmart. I am sharing my experience in case it helps others.

Round 1 – DSA

Q1: Next Greater Element II

Q2: A grid-based problem similar to Walls and Gates / Rotting Oranges (classic BFS pattern)

➡️ I got confirmation from the recruiter that I cleared Round 1.

Round 2 – LLD + Java

This was my first Low-Level Design round, and honestly, I didn’t perform well here.

I was able to answer Java and Spring Boot–related questions confidently.

However, my LLD approach and structuring were not strong enough.

❌ I didn’t qualify for Round 3.
