Has anyone experienced something similar with Walmart?
Summary
I interviewed for a Software Engineer role at Walmart, answered a “Meeting Rooms Required” coding problem and some follow‑up sorting questions, but was rejected despite feeling the interview went well.
Full Experience
I recently interviewed for a Software Engineer role at Walmart. The interview was scheduled for 60 minutes, but the interviewer joined about 10 minutes late. The interview itself lasted only around 30 minutes and ended 15–20 minutes before the scheduled end time.
The interview consisted of:
- One coding question: Meeting Rooms Required
- Follow‑up questions on Quicksort and Mergesort
For the coding problem, I solved it using a sorting‑based approach (O(n log n)). During the discussion, I also mentioned that it can be solved using the line sweep. After that, the interviewer moved on to questions about Quicksort and Mergesort, which I answered.
The interview ended around 20 minutes before the scheduled end, and I later received a rejection. Based on the discussion, I genuinely felt the interview had gone well, so the outcome was surprising.
What was even more confusing is that I did not apply for another Walmart role, but a few days later a different Walmart recruiter reached out and sent me another Online Assessment (OA).
I'm curious:
- Has anyone received another Walmart OA after a rejection without submitting a new application?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences.
