Tekion Staff Software Engineer Interview Experience - Round 1

Company: Tekion Role: Staff Software Engineer Round: R1 - Technical Screening

I recently interviewed for a Staff Software Engineer position at Tekion.

R1 - Technical Screening

Problem 1: 100 Lockers

The interviewer started with a variation of https://leetcode.com/problems/bulb-switcher/description/.

Suppose you're in a hallway lined with 100 closed lockers.

You begin by opening every locker.

Then you close every second locker.

Then you go to every third locker and toggle it - open it if it's closed, or close it if it's open.

Continue this process for 100 passes.

After the final pass, how many lockers are open?

Problem 2: Coin Game

The second problem was a variation of https://leetcode.com/problems/stone-game/description/.

A and B decide to play a coin game where each player gets a turn one by one. There is a row of even number of coins, and a player on his/her turn can pick a coin from any of the two corners of the row. The player that collects coins with more value wins the game.
A being the younger one gets to play the first move.
