Summary

As a 3rd-year undergrad, I interviewed for an intern position at Reliance Industries Limited, facing an online aptitude test and a project-based discussion. Despite a strong performance in the first round, I did not receive an offer due to my projects lacking direct real-life applications.

Full Experience

As a 3rd-year undergrad student, I applied for an intern position at Reliance Industries Limited. The whole process consisted of only two rounds. The first round was an online test primarily focused on mathematical aptitude problems, which I found to be quite easy, covering basic concepts like Time and Distance, Work and Time, Ratio, Profit, and Loss. Out of approximately 200 candidates, 11 of us were selected for the second round.

The second round was an interview, which lasted about 10 minutes. The only thing they asked me was about the real-life application of my projects. This was a challenging point for me, as two of my major projects included a 'Harry Potter' game in C++ and an Android app, neither of which had clear real-world applications or commercial viability that I could effectively articulate. Unfortunately, I did not get the intern position.

Interview Questions (1)

Q1
Real-Life Application of Projects
Behavioral

The interviewer asked me to elaborate on the real-life applications and practical impact of my projects. I had to discuss how my projects, such as a 'Harry Potter' game in C++ and an Android app, could be applied in real-world scenarios.

Preparation Tips

While preparing for the interview, I didn't have many insights into the types of questions Reliance would ask, so I tried to study more or less everything over a week. For the online test, I focused on basic mathematical concepts such as Time and Distance, Work and Time, Ratio, and Profit and Loss. For the interview round, I made sure to be thorough on my projects, though I specifically struggled with explaining their real-life applications during the interview.
