Summary

I went through EPAM Systems' campus recruitment process, clearing the online assessment, group discussion, technical interview, and HR interview to secure an internship and a performance‑based PPO.

How it went

EPAM Systems visited our campus for the recruitment process, offering an internship opportunity and performance based PPO.

The selection process consisted of four rounds: Online Assessment, Group Discussion, Technical Interview, and HR Interview.

Here is my interview experience.

Round 1: Online Assessment (OA)

The first round was an online assessment consisting of:

  • 2 Medium-level DSA questions.
  • MCQs covering technical concepts.

I would highly recommend Striver's SDE Sheet for DSA preparation. It is one of the best resources to build problem‑solving skills and prepare for coding assessments.

I successfully cleared this round.

Round 2: Group Discussion (GD)

After the OA, the EPAM team visited our college for the next stage of the recruitment process.

We had a Group Discussion round.

Topic: How will you survive in a forest?

We were given around 2-3 minutes to think about the topic and organize our thoughts. First, each candidate had to explain their individual approach, followed by the actual group discussion.

My preparation tips:

  • Communication is the key in this round.
  • Express your thoughts clearly and confidently.
  • Listen to others and build on their points.
  • Don't interrupt others or try to dominate the discussion.
  • Focus on logical thinking and teamwork.

I cleared this round as well.

Round 3: Technical Interview

This was the most important round of the selection process.

The interviewer started with DSA questions and then moved to core CS subjects and my projects.

DSA Questions:

  1. Balanced Parentheses.
  2. Detect a Loop in a Linked List.

Both questions were around Easy to Medium difficulty.

After DSA, the interviewer asked several questions from:

  • Java: Core Java concepts and fundamentals.
  • Spring Boot: Concepts and practical understanding.
  • Projects: Detailed discussion about my projects and technical implementation.
  • Operating Systems: Basic OS concepts.
  • SQL: Queries and database fundamentals.

Make sure you understand your projects thoroughly because interviewers can ask detailed questions about your implementation and technical decisions.

I successfully cleared this round.

Round 4: HR Interview

This was the final round.

The HR interviewer started with my introduction and then asked:

  1. Tell me about yourself.
  2. Why do you want to join EPAM Systems?
  3. Are you willing to relocate?
  4. Are you comfortable working from the office five days a week?
  5. A few other generic behavioural questions.

This round was relatively straightforward. Be honest, confident, and clear about your expectations and willingness to work according to company policies.

I cleared the HR round and successfully completed the selection process!

How they prepared

I prepared for the Group Discussion by focusing on clear communication, logical thinking, and teamwork. For the technical interview, I used Striver's SDE Sheet for DSA, reviewed around 100 Java interview questions from a preparation book, watched operating systems and SQL tutorials on Love Babbar's YouTube channel, and reinforced Spring Boot fundamentals, annotations, dependency injection, and REST APIs.
