I received an offer for Software Engineer III in the EBS team, focusing on Java + DevOps. The fixed salary is 24 LPA. The offer includes a 20% base bonus (4.6 LPA) and RSUs worth 25% of base (5.75 LPA), vested over 3 years. I am also offered a 2 LPA joining bonus. The total compensation for Year 1 is 32.5 LPA. Benefits are standard Walmart benefits. The location is Bengaluru. I consider the pay decent with great benefits. Walmart's brand name is perceived as better, potentially opening doors to top PBCs in the future. My current project is migrating from a legacy tech stack to Spring Boot. The culture is 3-day WFO hybrid, but I hear they might move to 5-day WFO next year. I am hearing that the EBS team might have risks in terms of job security and offers an average Work-Life Balance.

I accepted an offer for the Senior Software Engineer role with a total compensation of ₹52.43 LPA. My interview process included: Round 1 (DSA): Longest Common Prefix, Rotate Array by K without extra memory. Round 2 (System Design - Notification System): My solution included a Kafka-based event pipeline for scalability, idempotency, consumer groups for each channel, retries with exponential backoff + Dead Letter Queue, Load Balancer + API Gateway as an entry point, DB schema, and API design. Round 3 (Low Level Design): Extended the notification system with design patterns such as Strategy Pattern, Retry Pattern with Resilience4j, and Observer Pattern. Round 4 (Hiring Manager): Covered behavioral questions (conflict handling, deadline pressure), a deep dive into my American Express data pipeline architecture, and project trade-offs/design decisions.

My YOE is 7 years 2 months. I was offered the role of Senior Software Engineer - Band H. Base Pay: ₹32,00,000. Performance Bonus: 20% (~₹6,40,000). RSUs: ₹8,00,000 annual grant, vests over 3 years (~₹2.67L / year in Year 1). Stock horizon is recurring ₹8L RSU grant every year, with overlapping vesting, which compounds wealth after Year 2–3. Retirals: ~₹1.53L (Employer PF + gratuity as per offer). The "Senior Software Engineer" title is also a plus.

This is my friend’s college hiring experience for the Walmart SDE Intern role held in March 2024. They were also in the running for an FTE offer based on performance during the internship. The final result was a 6-Month Internship at Walmart India. FTE offer not received, but a fantastic internship opportunity nonetheless. Even after rejections from multiple companies, this selection was a huge confidence boost. Preparation Tips: Practice DSA daily: Graphs, DSU, Range Queries. Revise OS, DBMS, CN theory (for MCQs & interviews). Be confident in your project work – prepare to explain & demo. Use GitHub for sharing code/videos – it creates impact! Think out loud, communicate clearly, and stay calm.

I have successfully cleared 4 rounds of interviews for the SSE role at Walmart. I am currently in the HR discussion phase and seeking advice on the appropriate fixed pay to quote to ensure it is not a low-ball offer.
