I received an offer for an L5 position at Tekion. The base salary component is 22 LPA. The offer includes stocks worth approximately 27 L, which will vest over 4 years. I will also receive a bonus of 1 L. The role requires me to relocate to Chennai. My concerns include the 4-year vesting schedule for the stocks and evaluating if switching now is a good move.

I am a software development engineer with 4.5 years of experience. I have always loved working for startups and I like the energized work environment.

I went through 3 offline interview rounds. Round 1 (45 min): Machine Coding where I had to design a file management system with cp, mv, mkdir, pwd methods. Round 2 (1 hr): LLD where I designed a Parking lot, discussed how to make the system fast while fetching empty slots, deep dive on Redis cache (why it can't be used in place of DB), Parallelism vs Concurrency, and questions from my resume. Round 3 (30 min): Managerial round focusing on my current project, components of a movie ticket booking system (HDL perspective), DB choices (MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.), and an explanation of the CAP theorem. I received an offer letter approximately 3 weeks after being shortlisted. The offer included: Role - SDE-1, Base - 29 LPA, ESOPs - 4000 units (not considered useful), Joining bonus - 2L. I attempted to negotiate for a 32 LPA base salary but was unsuccessful and ultimately rejected the offer.
