I received an offer for a Sr Engineer role at Qualcomm in Hyderabad. The base salary offered is ₹28 LPA. The offer includes a bonus of 9-15% of my base salary. I will receive Restricted Stock Units (RSU) worth $30K, vesting over 3 years ($10K annually). A joining bonus of ₹3 LPA is also included. My estimated total compensation for the first year is ~₹44 LPA. The hiring manager hinted that the role is a kind of support-devops position, despite my entire experience being in Full Stack Development (except for a 2-month DevOps internship). My main concern is that a 70-80% support/DevOps role feels wrong for a backend developer, and I believe staying in FSD is better for my career goals. I am also concerned about the likelihood and process of switching to a more suitable team internally at Qualcomm, which I understand can only happen after 1 year. This Qualcomm offer wins on total compensation in the first year by ~₹8-10 LPA compared to my other offer, and it will be even greater in subsequent years due to stock refreshers.
