Summary

I interviewed for a Lead Engineer position at TBO Tek, which involved rounds on LLD, HLD, DSA, and project discussions. Despite initial positive feedback, the company later changed the role to SDE2 and provided a disappointing update on my candidacy.

Full Experience

I interviewed at TBO tek for lead engineer position last year.

Round1 - Mix of LLD, coding and DSA

I was asked to design snake and ladder low level design

Post this, I was asked questions regarding how to scale the game service from HLD perspective.

Then was asked the approach for basic calculator 2. This round was taken by an engg manager.

Round 2 -> Projects I've worked on & a bit of kafka concepts.

I was then asked to design logs and metrics aggregator from HLD perspective.

This was taken by an engineering director.

I was then told that the feedback is positive and I'll have another round which will be the last one.

Then comes the twist. I call the HR to schedule the 3rd round. HR says the engg director has said that we don't need a lead engineer but we can have an SDE2 instead. To add to this, I'm also told Tumhara feedback itna bhi accha nhi tha waise.

This is what's going on in tech companies. It's all at the whim of senior engg management. No clarity on what role they want to hire for.

What about the time and energy wasted for this interview process? We are the company, we dictate the terms, we don't care about candidates and all.
