Summary

I completed an aptitude test, a technical OT, two technical PI rounds, and an HR PI for an Embedded Engineer role at Sedemac in Pune.

Full Experience

Education: B.Tech (Tier 1) Experience: Fresher Company: SEDEMAC Role: Engineer - Embedded Software Location: Pune Process: Aptitude + Technical OT + 2 PI rounds Compensation: CTC 1800000 INR Base: 1726300 INR

Process Structure

1. Online Assessment

Aptitude round: 30 minutes Technical round: 1 hour

  • Technical OT covered C programming, basic algorithms/problem solving, basic electronics and embedded systems
  • C coding questions (2): Bit manipulation (A signal was given, and the task was to filter out noise. Any 1 that was surrounded by 0s on both sides had to be removed. Noise at the MSB and LSB was to be ignored) Counting palindromes after converting a number from bases 2–16
  • Embedded MCQs covered interrupts, linkers, ADC, communication protocols, memory, signals, etc.
  • C questions included pointers, memory, output-based questions, etc. No advanced DSA such as trees or graphs.

2. Technical PI

The technical round was heavily focused on resume projects, with detailed follow-up questions.

Topics discussed included:

PWM and actuator/motor control ADC working and conversion Timers and interrupts UART, SPI, I2C, MQTT RTOS basics C compilation process volatile and const Pointers and dynamic memory allocation Singly linked list implementation in C Struct vs Union Structure padding and size calculation Debugging tools Oscilloscope basics Reading and interpreting datasheets/specifications

The project discussion was quite deep - they didn't just ask what was used, but also why specific components/specifications were chosen and how the system actually worked internally.

3. HR PI

It was a straightforward HR round.

For the technical rounds, I'd recommend being prepared to explain every line/concept mentioned in your resume, especially embedded projects.

For Embedded Software, focus strongly on C fundamentals, pointers/memory, bit manipulation, interrupts, timers, ADC, PWM, communication protocols, and basic electronics. Also understand the working behind the concepts rather than memorizing definitions.

Interview Questions (2)

1.

Bit manipulation: Filter noise in binary signal

Data Structures & Algorithms

A binary signal is given. The task is to filter out noise by removing any '1' that is surrounded by '0's on both sides. Noise at the most significant bit (MSB) and least significant bit (LSB) should be ignored.

2.

Count palindromes across bases 2 to 16

Data Structures & Algorithms

Given an integer, convert it to each base from 2 through 16 and count how many of those base representations form a palindrome.

Preparation Tips

For the technical rounds, I'd recommend being prepared to explain every line and concept mentioned in my resume, especially my embedded projects. I focused on C fundamentals, pointers, memory management, bit manipulation, interrupts, timers, ADC, PWM, communication protocols, and basic electronics, making sure I understood the underlying mechanisms rather than just memorizing definitions.
