Nykaa SDE Interview Experience
I recently interviewed for an SDE role at Nykaa and got selected. Sharing my interview experience for anyone preparing for the process.
Round 1 - DSA
Two questions were asked:
Both were based on standard DSA concepts. The round mainly focused on problem-solving approach and complexity.
Round 2 - LLD
The question was:
Design Splitwise
The discussion covered the overall object-oriented design and how the different components would interact.
Round 3 - System Design
The third round was listed as a Leadership round, but the questions focused on High-Level Design (HLD), problem-solving, and handling concurrency in an e-commerce system.
Two main questions were asked:
- Design the complete order flow, starting from the cart and covering the different stages of an order.
- Inventory concurrency: How would you handle a scenario where
Nusers try to purchase the same item at the same time?
The second question focused on handling concurrent inventory updates and avoiding overselling.
Overall
The interview process had a good mix of DSA, LLD, system design, and concurrency.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm happy to share that I got selected at Nykaa!

Course Schedule
Given a list of courses and prerequisites, determine if it is possible to finish all courses. (LeetCode problem).
Max Consecutive Ones III
Given a binary array, find the maximum number of consecutive 1s you can obtain by flipping at most K zeros. (LeetCode problem).
Design Splitwise
Design an object-oriented system for a bill-splitting application similar to Splitwise, focusing on class structures and interactions.
Design Complete Order Flow
Design the full order flow for an e-commerce platform, starting from the shopping cart and covering all stages of an order.
Inventory Concurrency
Explain how to handle a scenario where N users attempt to purchase the same item concurrently, ensuring inventory consistency and avoiding overselling.
