Recently i appeared for Nexturn senior java developer role. I reached out to the recruiter through email. There were total of three interview rounds for me.
First round: This round was taken by a senior developer. It started with introduction then project discussion including my contribution. Then interviewer asked few scenario based question like:
- Kafka topic vs partition vs replicas?
- How to achive ordering in kafka?
- How to achieve idempotency in kafka?
- How kafka works and how it handles massive amount of data?
- How to increase api throughput?
- Api authentication and autorization?
- Few spring annotation like responsebody?
- What happends when we run spring application in detail?
In last, one simple coding question to return all palindrome strings in a list from a sentence.
Second round: It started with introduction then she quickly jumped to my current project in deep, i used a white board and explained my complete project end to end which took most of the time. Few scenario based questions in the end like:
- How to handle out of memory error
- Database optimisation techniques
- Batch vs stream processing
In the end, she asked to code one simple question where given a string remove alpha numeric character from it.
Third round: This was a good technical round compared to above although recruiter told it would be a simple discussion not technical. It started with intro then again project discussion but verbally this time. Then following question he asked:
- Which microservice patterns i implemented in my current project and where?
- Circuit breaker design pattern and exactly when it closes or opens circuit?
- Saga design pattern in details
- Factory vs factory method
- SQL vs NoSQL and Columnar db
- Java memory model in very deep
- One simple java springboot code to create helloWorld kind api and also external api call using restClient.
In the end, he asked to code a sorting algorithm, i choosed and coded quick sort algorithm. It ran successfully after couple of fail runs.
Final verdict: Selected
I forgot few scenario based questions from each round but those were easy which i dont remember now.
Although it was easy interview and they did not paid me much (maine hg diya tha negotiation me due to lack of confidence) but this selection just before my garden period ends gave me lot of confidence.
