Summary
I interviewed for a SWE2 (L61) position at Microsoft in Redmond, USA, in May 2025 and successfully received an offer. The interview process included a recruiter screen, a technical online assessment, and a virtual loop comprising two LeetCode-style DSA rounds, an LLD round, and a System Design round.

Background: 23M 3 YOE (SWE) with Bachelor's from college in USA.
Interviews happened early May.
Past companies: Mid-sized F500 companies
Leetcode: 1000 total questions over time, with bursts during prep seasons
I signed an NDA so I won't go into too much detail.
Process: Recruiter Screen: Very standard behavioral and resume discussion
Technical OA: 2 DSA problem, 1 Debugging problem. Overall, it was pretty easy.
Virtual Loop:
2 Leetcode-style rounds (both LC Medium but not on LC Premium list). Revolved around trees and 2d array (math-related).
1 LLD round (focus on communication, tradeoffs). Using OOP.
1 System Design Round, similar to "Amazon Locker" System design question.
Received "yes" 2 days after loop. Received offer and layoffs happened, but new offers were not impacted. Currently there is no hiring freeze, teams are still hiring despite layoffs that happened.

Interview Questions (1)
Design a system similar to Amazon Locker. This typically involves considering aspects like user authentication, locker allocation, package deposit and retrieval, notification systems, security, and handling various states and error conditions. The discussion should focus on architectural tradeoffs and scalability.
Preparation Tips
Interview prep: Tons of LC preparation, following Neetcode 150. Also using LC Premium tagged (very helpful). System design -> Hello Interview. Lots of Mock Interviews with ChatGPT (especially for System Design).
