Summary

I completed three rounds of interviews for a Database Developer fresher position at Media.net in Mumbai, passing the online assessment and technical interview but not being selected after the final on‑site interview.

Interview Process


Round 1: Online Assessment

The online assessment consisted of DSA, SQL, and MCQs. Time : 45 Minutes and one laptop camera (which is usual) and one phone covering you and laptop has to be on all the time .

  • DSA: One Heap/Max-Heap based problem.
  • SQL: One query involving joins and data matching.
  • MCQs: 15 questions covering:
    • DBMS concepts
    • SQL concepts
    • Computer Science fundamentals
    • DSA concepts

Result (after ~2 weeks): Passed


Round 2: Technical Interview

The interview started with a brief introduction, followed by questions on DBMS and SQL concepts and Resume questions .After that

  • SQL Questions:

    1. Find the employee with the highest salary along with the employee's name.
    2. Given redundant names and data, find the person X who has worked for the highest amount of time.
  • DSA Questions:

    1. Check whether a string is a palindrome.
    2. Find the first repeated character in a string.

Only pseudocode was expected for the DSA questions.

Result (after ~1 week): Positive Feedback - Passed


Round 3: Final Interview (Face-to-Face)

The company arranged the travel for the on-site interview.

The discussion included:

  • Resume walkthrough
  • Database normalization
  • Database schema design

The main design question was to create a database schema for an Amazon-like application, including entities such as:

  • Users
  • Products
  • Cart
  • Orders
  • User Settings

Final Result: Not Selected

System Design

Design a relational database schema for an Amazon‑like application that includes entities such as Users, Products, Cart, Orders, and User Settings, describing primary keys, relationships, and necessary tables.
