Summary

I applied for a Senior Software Development Engineer role at Expedia and had a 45-minute manager round focused on behavioral questions and system/DevOps topics. The experience led to a rejection, and I reflected on my project choice during the interview.

Full Experience

I applied on their careers page and was contacted by HR. For senior positions, they schedule first round with manager. It was a 45 minutes call on a sultry afternoon last summer.

General questions like what are the biggest challenges faced in your current project, what was the tech stack and related. How to config prod deployment containers? What dashboards do you use for monitoring? What all alerts did you setup?

I explained a project having more of spark and bigquery involved. Since the role was typical Java backend and AWS, I should have chosen the project with more of core backend work.

Verdict: Rejected
