Emergent SDE Intern Interview Experience
Summary
I interviewed for an SDE intern role at Emergent, which was my first in-office interview. I was asked to design Google Search, covering HLD, LLD, and various optimizations. Unfortunately, I was rejected after the interview.
Full Experience
Hello! I was quite excited about my interview experience for the SDE intern role at Emergent, as this was my first in-office interview. I was asked to design Google Search. I covered both High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD), involving aspects like search page ranking in an optimized manner, frontend optimizations such as debouncing and throttling, and implementing trending search suggestions based on input queries (for example, if I searched for "Ro", it should show suggestions like "Ronaldo", "Ronald Weasley", etc.). The interview lasted around 1 hour. After the design question, I was also asked questions regarding my past experiences and technical stack. The verdict was a rejection. The compensation, if selected, would have been around 7.2LPA.
