Amazon SDE2 L5 Loop
Summary
I'm sharing my Amazon SDE2 interview experience, which included an Online Assessment, a recruiter call, and a final loop with four rounds covering System Design, Coding, and Leadership Principles, culminating in a system design problem for the Amazon Locker system.
Full Experience
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with the Amazon SDE2 interview loop to help those preparing for similar roles. Here’s a breakdown of what I went through:
**Amazon OA (Online Assessment) **I completed the OA back in February, which consisted of coding questions and a work style assessment. I honestly don't remember all the details as it was a while ago.
**Recruiter Call **After submitting the OA, I heard back from the recruiter within 2-3 days to schedule a call. During the recruiter call, we discussed the role in more detail, my profile, and what to expect next in the interview process. The recruiter was very helpful and made sure I had all the info I needed.
Amazon Loop (Final Interview) The final loop had 4 rounds, including System Design and Coding, as well as a focus on Leadership Principles. Here’s how each round went:
- System Design Round (Hiring Manager)
- Started with some questions about Amazon's Leadership Principles (LPs).
- The interview was scenario-based, and the main topic was database design.
- I was asked to implement a feature and design a database for that feature. The interviewer was really focused on how I structured the system and ensured scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Coding Round
- Started with some questions about Amazon's Leadership Principles (LPs).
- The coding problem was BFS-based. The interviewer focused on how I approached the problem, optimized my solution, and handled edge cases.
- Coding Round
- Similar to the previous round, we discussed a few LPs before jumping into the coding problem.
- This time, the problem was about creating a service that checks the heartbeat of other services (think monitoring or health checks for microservices). The interviewer was interested in how I structured my approach and the trade-offs I considered.
- Coding Round (LLD)
- Design Amazon Locker system
- Started with some questions about Amazon's Leadership Principles (LPs).
Good luck to everyone preparing for their Amazon interviews!
