Summary

I completed three interview rounds for an SDE I role at Amazon in Bangalore, solving a graph reachability problem, designing a parking ticketing system, and answering GenAI and leadership questions; the final decision is still pending.

Full Experience

Amazon SDE-1 Interview Experience

Qualifications:

  • 2026 graduate, Tier 2 college
  • 6 months Intern + 2 months FTE
  • LeetCode Max Rating: 2038

I gave my OA on 2nd August 2026. It had one basic DSA question, a codebase bug-solving question, and a work simulation.

On 4th August, I received an email from the recruiter saying that interviews would be scheduled between 8th-18th August and asked me to be available on 13th August. After that, I didn't receive any update, so I assumed the process was over.

Then, on 26th August, I received a call for an interview on 11th September at the Amazon Bangalore office.

Round 1 - 11th September, 11 AM

Started with questions about my projects and the work I was currently doing. There were several cross-questions, including questions about the table/database structure of my project.

DSA: Find all active/reachable nodes in a graph.

Follow-up: If there are two connected components, find the nodes/edges that need to be added to make the graph connected.

I was able to solve both the main question and the follow-up.

Leadership Principles: Tell me about a time when you had to implement something challenging.

After the round, the recruiter informed me that my second round was scheduled after lunch.

Round 2 - 11th September, 2 PM

LLD: Parking ticketing/receipt system.

I designed the basic system and was asked to add some new functionality. I was able to handle a couple of follow-ups, but I missed considering peak and non-peak hour pricing.

I was told that the remaining round would be online, but before leaving the office, I was informed that the third round was already scheduled.

Round 3 - 11th September, 4:15 PM

GenAI questions:

  • How do you use AI in your work?
  • Have you built something using AI?
  • How do you evaluate whether an AI response is correct?
  • How do you ensure the output is reliable?

Leadership Principles:

  • What is the most complex problem you have worked on?
  • Why was it complex?
  • Was it mainly because you were unfamiliar with the technology/stack?

At the end, I was told that the recruitment team would get back to me within a week.

I haven't received any update yet, so I don't know the final outcome.

That's it from my side. I wanted to share my experience because LeetCode Discuss posts helped me a lot during my preparation. Hopefully, this helps someone else preparing for Amazon.

All the best!

Interview Questions (2)

1.

Find all active/reachable nodes in a graph

Data Structures & Algorithms

Given a graph, find all active/reachable nodes. Follow-up: If there are two connected components, determine the nodes or edges that need to be added to make the graph fully connected.

2.

Design a parking ticketing/receipt system

System Design

Design the basic architecture of a parking ticketing and receipt system. The candidate was asked to add new functionality and consider pricing variations for peak and non‑peak hours.

Preparation Tips

I prepared using LeetCode Discuss posts and practiced DSA problems and system design concepts.
