Amazon SDE 2 | Jan 2026 | Offer | Interview Experience
Summary
I, with 4 years of experience, interviewed for an SDE 2 role at Amazon, completing four rounds covering LLD, DSA, HLD, and BarRaiser. I successfully received an offer for the position.
Full Experience
Hey all! I have 4 years of experience as software developer (Fintech and Finance).
I gave more than 50+ interviews (15+ companies) in last 4 months and would love to share my interview experiences one by one to give back to the community.
Amazon had first reached out in November but scheduled the rounds in January. I already had an offer so they fast tracked the process in Jan.
Round 1 - LLD
First 20-25 mins were spent on Amazon's LP, past projects, intro etc.
Then in remaining time I was asked to design a Customer Issue Resolution System. Working code was not required and only the classes, interface, design patterns, enums etc was expected.
I was able to come up with a solution in the remaining time.
Verdict: (Maybe Strong) Hire
Round 2 - DSA
Again LP discussion for 10-15 mins along with introduction.
In the remaining time I was expected to solve two questions in 40 minutes with working code.
First question was a string question and involved heap and sliding window. Do not remember the exact question now.
Second question was - N Queens problem
I was able to write the complete code for first and the second one I could not complete but explained the approach.
Verdict: Hire
Round 3 - HLD
I was asked to desing a part of social media where one can have friends (2k+) and the users can create a post and friends can see the feed generated from friend's posts. Focus was on scalability and high read/write throughput.
Verdict: Hire
Round 4 - BarRaiser
Two DSA questions were asked and the expectation was working code. Had to do thorough dry runs with the give input.
Questions were standard medium problems like rotten oranges and level order traversal printing of a tree and some follow ups on the same.
Interviewer was testing speed and the ability to do dry runs properly.
Verdict: (Strong) Hire
Final Verdict: Offer
Though I was skeptical due to bad WLB and job security concerns at Amazon. I was still happy to recieve the offer from them and the compensation was also the best among the choices I had at that time.
