Summary

I had an interview experience for Amazon SDE-2 where I cleared multiple rounds involving LPs, DSA, LLD, and HLD, ultimately receiving a shortlist notification.

Full Experience

Was reached out by recruiter over call.

there was no OA round.

1st round - LPs and 2 medium-easy DSA questions

One was simple hash map based implementation, and other was on Trees( to find sum of nodes in a particular fashion - which could change based on input) Was able to solve them quickly and finished the interview before time.

2nd Round - LPs and LLD

It was supposed to be a LLD round but interviewer wanted me to design HLD of one of the problems they were actually solving in their team. These kind of interviews where they ask you to design something they are already working on are most difficult in my opinion - because the interviewer has deep knowledge about it plus knows nuances that you can't even think of at times. I think i did okayish in this round. The round went over 80 minutes and had a good discussion with the interviewer.

3rd Round. - LPs, Resume discussion and HLD

Interviewer seemed impressed w my LP answers and then discussed one of the projects I was working in my current org. That took most of the time and she asked me to design Uber in 20-25 minutes that were left. I was able to come up with a decent design and answered counter questions too.

Bar Raiser Round - LPs and DSA

Grilled me for 30 mins on LP, went deep into every answer I gave - both in terms of tech and behavioural aspects. Later moved on to DSA question and asked a question similar to number of islands problem, was able to solve it. I thought I might have messed up here with LPs here and wasnt really sure of my performance.

Verdict - Got the call from recruiter few days later that I have been shortlisted.
