Summary
I had my first Amazon SDE-1 interview today where I was presented with the LeetCode hard problem 'Trapping Rain Water'. Despite receiving hints, I struggled to fully solve and code it within the allotted time, leading me to believe I bombed the interview.
Full Experience
Had my first Amazon interview today first time ever interviewing at any MAANG company. The interviewer hit me with Trapping Rain Water (Leetcode hard). I’d never solved it before. Tried thinking and explaining an approach but it wasn’t good enough. Luckily, the interviewer was super chill and gave me a bunch of hints. After like 45 mins, I finally understood the solution.
We then discussed how I’d write the code, time and space complexity, and one LP question too. But the problem is I only explained the code verbally. I didn’t actually write it because by the time I figured it out, 45 mins were already gone.
Pretty sure I bombed the Amazon interview. It’s been a dream company for me.
