Full Experience
Hi,
I wanted to share my Amazon SDE-1 interview experience, hoping it helps those preparing for their upcoming interviews.
Application
Applied via: Referral
Applied in: Mid-April 2025
Got OA: Within 2 days
Online Assessment
The OA consisted of:
- 2 DSA questions
- Amazon Workstyle Assessment
- Work Simulation
- Leadership Principles based MCQs
Round 1 – Technical Interview
Mode: Virtual
Panel: Two interviewers
- Started with 2 Leadership Principle questions.
DSA Questions:
- Similar to Rotten Oranges (LeetCode) but tweaked heavily with a big story-based setup.
- Diagonal Traversal of a Binary Tree, with multiple follow-ups testing deeper understanding.
Got a call the next working day that my next round is in the same week.
Round 2 – Technical Interview
Mode: Virtual
Panel: Two interviewers
- Started with 2 Leadership Principle questions.
DSA Question:
- Similar to Course Schedule and Course Schedule II problems but with many follow-ups testing corner cases and constraints.
LLD Question:
- Problem hinted at using a design pattern. I discussed and implemented it using the Decorator Pattern, which seemed to make the interviewer happy.
Received an email after 10 days that Round 3 (Bar Raiser) was scheduled around June end.
Round 3 – Bar Raiser
Mode: Virtual
Panel: Two interviewers
This round was purely Leadership Principle and scenario-based questions with extensive follow-ups to every answer.
They tested situations from all 16 Amazon LPs, so being well-prepared with structured STAR responses is crucial here.
Got very positive feedback in this round.
Result
After 5 working days, I received the offer from Amazon for SDE-1.
