Summary

I completed Amazon's OA on 9 October 2026, which consisted of a DSA problem similar to Maximum Coins From K Consecutive Bags (with an added modulo), an AI debugging section, and several behavioral simulations.

How it went

I recently gave the Amazon OA, and I want to share my experience with the new format.

  1. DSA Question The question was the same as Maximum Coins From K Consecutive Bags, I just need to add Modulo at last but rest is the same, but with a different scenario. The description was written like a story. I had practised this question because someone in a LeetCode discussion mentioned that they had been asked this question in July 2026.

  1. AI Assistance Section This was the toughest part of the OA for me. I wasn't able to pass any of the 6 test cases. Before the Coding section starts, they asked me to select a framework. I selected Django because I know Python but I hadn't built any projects using Django. I had only seen how Django works before the OA. Node.js and C++ were also options. The codebase was for a website where users could rent cars and also publish their cars for rent. However, there were two main issues:
  • Publishing a car wasn't working
  • Some cars were being displayed that weren't supposed to be there.

There were 6 test cases. I navigating the bug files and functions was soo easy using AI. For example, there were functions like host_car and other functions in the car app that were being requested through URLs, but their implementations were incomplete. They weren't have complete inputs and output/responses implemention. I tried many things, but I wasn't able to pass any of the test cases. Maybe I'm just not good enough at debugging yet. The AI did help me identify the bugs, including some missing code, but it couldn't help me correct them. It just said that it couldn't assist with fixing the issues.

  1. Work Simulation This section was mentioned as a 45-minute section, but it was actually untimed, and there was no interrogation. There were 3 scenarios in which I had to imagine myself working in a team and rate the responses from 1 to 5. In the first scenario, I mostly had to rate the replies I should give, while in the second and third scenarios, I was mostly asked to provide suggestions by rating the given sugessition. This section was mainly based on Amazon's Leadership Principles (LPs). For preparation, the Amazon Bound YouTube channel was the best resource.

  1. Work Style Survey This was also an untimed section. In this section, I just had to select which of two given work styles was more likely or most likely to describe me. For example, statements about how I make plans or learn new things.

One Suggestion From My Side Amazon has also provided a OA for practice. However, I would suggest that you don't rely on that OA to judge the difficulty of the actual OA. That OA is mainly useful for giving you an overview of how the Coding assesment is conducted. When I attempted it, they asked easy DSA questions, and also I only had to find two bugs in the AI debugging section.

The actual OA experience was quite different for me, especially the AI assistance section.

Questions asked (1)

  1. 01

Maximum Coins From K Consecutive Bags with Modulo

    Data Structures & Algorithms

The coding question was identical to the "Maximum Coins From K Consecutive Bags" problem, but required an additional modulo operation at the end. The problem statement was presented as a story scenario.

How they prepared

I had previously practiced the Maximum Coins From K Consecutive Bags problem after seeing it mentioned in a LeetCode discussion, and I used the Amazon Bound YouTube channel to learn about the leadership‑principle based work‑simulation sections.
