Amazon Interview Experience

Position: SDE-1

Online Assessment (November 2024): Standard (Coding + situation based questions)

Got interview email in July 2025. 3 interviews on same day, each 1 hour.

Interview 1:

Only coding questions.

Question 1: Trie related (medium solution, extremely confusing question)

Question 2: Graph related (given unbounded grid, need to take some actions)

Then, a follow-up for question-1.

Interview 2:

Question 1: Few Behavioral

Question 2: Low Level Design: Price calculator for a specific restaurant case (seemed easy but was tricky, I did my best and had a working solution).

Then more Behavioral.

Interview 3:

Bar Raiser (all Behavioral)

Status: Rejected (after a week)

I was able to solve the questions and my behaviour answers were (most likely) aligned with the leadership principles.

Possible screw-ups:

1. For the first coding question, I asked for a lot of clarification as the examples were confusing to me. I didn't have time to code the follow-up on that but gave explaination (don't know if that was correct, but I think it was).
2. In a behavioral in 2nd interview, I had spend too much time explaining situation/problem because the interview didn't understand the context when I first told in very short. Time ran out due to this.I should have said it better to begin with.
3. I was not cheating but with the recent trend, I may have been considered as one as I feel like this should have been an accept otherwise. I will never know.
