My Amazon Interview Experience – Learnings and Reflections

Recently, I went through the interview process for a Frontend Engineer role at Amazon. Here's a brief summary of the journey:

📌 Online Assessment:

Built two UI components using plain JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Included leadership principles-based questions.

📌 Interview Loop:
Round 1: Frontend Coding + Leadership Principles

Implemented a debounce-like functionality.

Built a nested folder structure component.
Feedback: Positive

Round 2: System Design + Leadership Principles

Designed a feed app similar to Twitter with considerations for scalability and performance.
Feedback: Positive

Round 3: Hiring Manager (HM) Round

Focused entirely on past experiences and Amazon's leadership principles.

Unfortunately, the experience was less than ideal — the interviewer appeared disengaged.
Feedback: Negative

Despite strong feedback from the technical rounds, I was rejected after the final round. Upon requesting detailed feedback, I was informed that it was communicated verbally.

I’ve invested significant time and effort preparing for this opportunity, and while the outcome wasn’t as I hoped, I’m grateful for the experience. It was a chance to grow, understand where I stand, and identify areas to improve further.
