Data Engineer - 2Rejected
December 7, 20243 reads

Summary

I applied for a Data Engineer - 2 role at Amazon and underwent three interview rounds, including SQL, DSA, and System Design. Despite my efforts, I received a rejection, and the overall experience was negatively impacted by a lack of recruiter communication.

Full Experience

I applied online for the Data Engineer - 2 position, and HR promptly contacted me to initiate the interview process.

The interviews were structured into three distinct rounds:

  • Round 1: This round challenged me with a mix of SQL problems, which I found to be of medium to hard difficulty, alongside Data Structures & Algorithms questions that were generally of medium complexity.
  • Round 2: In this round, I again faced medium-difficulty SQL problems. A significant portion of the discussion also revolved around my previous project experiences, which I presented and elaborated upon.
  • Round 3: This was the crucial System/Data Pipeline Design round. The core problem involved designing a comprehensive system capable of identifying and presenting the top 10 products. Unfortunately, I did not perform well enough in this round, leading to my eventual rejection.
Overall, my experience with the interview process wasn't entirely positive, mainly because the recruiter's updates and feedback were infrequent and sometimes unclear.
