I recently received an offer from JPMorgan Chase (SDE2) through the cohort hiring round. This is their maximum budget for SDE2.

I received an offer from JPMorgan Chase. The base salary is 36 LPA. The offer includes an estimated bonus of approximately 12%. The work mode is 4 days Work From Office (WFO), with a likelihood of moving to 5 days WFO. I am concerned that the overall CTC does not significantly increase, with most of the jump being only in base pay. I find the work mode much more restrictive compared to my current role. I have heard mixed, often negative, feedback about the Work-Life Balance (WLB) at JPMC.

Applied for SDE-3 Java Full stack developer role. My current YOE is 4.5 years as SDE-2 in a MAANG company. Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. **1st Round (Coding)**: Multiple LC-medium type questions like Min Stack, Delete Node in a Linked List, Trapping Rain Water, Two Sum, Binary Tree Level Order Traversal. I was able to answer all questions. **2nd Round (LLD)**: Focused on JAVA fundamentals, new features (JAVA 21), comparison with Scala, concurrency control in JAVA and distributed systems. Involved code review and bug fixing. I was grilled hard on points I brought up. **3rd Round (HLD + Behavior)**: Discussion on new business, motivation, and HLD question on designing a website for document validation and storage (highlighting S3 for file bytes, DB for metadata, async workers for delay, API design, and scaling). Overall verdict: I was selected but downleveled to an SDE-2 role. Reason for downlevel: My overall experience (4.5 YOE) was considered lower than most SDE-3s in the organization (>6 years required) and my performance in the 2nd round did not meet the SDE-3 bar. I declined the offer despite the compensation being good (almost equal to an SDE-3, matching my current compensation).

I am asking about the timeline for HR processes after document submission (September 16), specifically how many business days it takes for HR to schedule the compensation discussion, provide a verbal offer, and a written offer/LOI. I am interested in India-specific timelines for 2024–2025 and whether the process can be expedited given my competing offer that I need to join in the next 2 weeks. I also inquired about flexibility within compensation bands during discussions.

Interview Process: Cover Letter, Resume, OA: 2 Leetcode problems (1 easy, 1 medium) commented a walkthrough of my though process throughout my code (done through hackerrank), Hackathon Thoughts: Whole process took about 4 months (OA through offer took about 2 months). Recruiting team was friendly and happy to walk through the process with anyone who had questions. From other peoples notes on the internet the hackathon was used to access your ability to work with a team, presentation/standup skills, quality of work contributed to team efforts. I personally would note that it's worth making connections with your team, mentors, and recruiters.
